Sandburg, Black Hawk to Meet Again in Region IV Sectionals

For the second straight year, the Carl Sandburg College baseball team will take on Black Hawk to open the postseason.
The Chargers earned the No. 4 seed in the Region IV Division II tournament and will host the fifth-seeded Braves in a best-of-three sectional series that begins Saturday. The first two games will be played at noon and 3 p.m. Saturday at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex. If necessary, a winner-take-all Game 3 will be at noon Sunday, also at Sandburg.
The winner advances to the Region IV tournament finals, to be played May 17-19 at the highest remaining seed after this weekend’s sectionals.
Sandburg swept all four meetings with the Braves during the regular season as the Chargers went on to win their second straight Arrowhead Conference championship. Sandburg outscored Black Hawk 37-18 in those contests.
The Chargers, who wrap up the regular season tonight at Southeastern (Iowa), have a 26-11-1 overall mark. Black Hawk is 21-17 on the season.
